Résumé:
This thesis attempts to discuss the different ways in which translators of the Holy Qur’an deal with the phenomenon of polysemy.
The main question to be asked here is: How the word umma is dealt with in the translation of the Holy Qur’an? Did translators translate polysemous words using their correspondents or by their equivalent?
In order to answer these questions, we have chosen three translations of the Holy Qur’an into French done by: Boubekeur Hamza, Jacques Berque, and André Chouraqui.
The present research is divided into an introductory part and four chapters, in addition to the introduction and the conclusion.
The introductory part intends to be the methodological framework of the research, including its problematic, which can be explained in terms of the different ways in which the translators
