Résumé:
Audiovisual translation is one of the most common strategies used nowadays to make audiovisual programs accessible to larger audiences, yet a number of problematic issues remain to be addressed. The most important difficulty is the polysemiotic aspect of audiovisual texts which acquire meaning through the use of words, gestures, facial expressions, sounds, music and images.
The present study aims, through the analysis of “The Last Samurai” subtitled and dubbed versions into Arabic, at enabling translators to make ample use of semiotics principles so as to read all the productive signs of signification, interpret and translate them correctly into the target language.
