The aim of our study was a double environmental aspect, the valorization of a composite material and the implementation of a device for purifying polluted water. a series of experiments was made to prepare the sulfonated polystyrene ion exchange resin and the composite material based on an adsorbent phase (reinforcement) activated carbon and a polymer (matrix) polystyrene all and carried by a cartridge, as well as the tests of our mobile miniaturized station for the removal of two pollutants an acid and a dye. For the characterization of our materials, different methods of characterization were used: infrared
spectroscopy, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis and analysis by visible UV spectrophotometry.
