This research aims to discuss and analyze the phenomenon of the polarization of the city of Setif and its multidimensional manifestations, which shifted attention from the study of the city as an isolated unit to the study of regional spatial and structural interactions that it produced. The city has been viewed by state authorities, and through different initializations plans , not only in terms of its size and urban blocks , but in terms of their ability to create dynamics within their region and their ability to form new regional systems.
The city of Setif, as an ancient colonial center and an important city within the Eastern Upper Plains Region, witnessed functional and demographic transformations that would have resulted in unprecedented urban growth. It also created dynamic and deep changes in the structure of the city. This is a fundamental result of the city's urban polarization process. Yet,the city undergoes a critical situation, which is working to stimulate a series of new transformations, the most important of which is the shift in the objectives and directions of the various planning schemes. This situation has made the city of Setif a fertile subject for study and analysis and determine its role in attracting and organizing the state domain and stimulate the development process within the municipalities of the state.Thus , the city and through the guidance of various national and regional planning schemes have become a developmental polarization pole , due to many political, economic and even social factors. Therefore, the role of the city of Setif in the organization of the field and its structure will be revealed through this research, which necessitates the disclosure of the determinants and nature of this role, which was largely related to the quality and nature of the interventions that reflected regional and urban transformations. |
