"The object of this study is ""The Legal Status of the Central Bank and its Supervision Role on Commercial Banks' Activities"" with concentration on Algeria as study case.
The central bank of Algeria is to be considered the supreme institution in the banking system hierarchy which plays its role as a monetary supervision authority from one side and controlling authority of the commercial banks' activities from the other side.
The central bank controls the commercial banks because of their high importance on the banking system and their high risk exposure and to look for monetary stability with high development rate.
This study gives us an introduction to the commercial banks and highlights the most important roles of the central bank and its legal status as well as its supervision mechanics adopted by the Algerian authorities as ""Precautionary Rules and Measures"".
The legal status of the central bank has been gradually revealed through reforms, especially, the reformation of 10-90 related to ""Money & Credit"".
Although, that period witnessed the application of updated regulations and rules, the banking system supervision was in its weakest status which engenders the failure of all supervision mechanics adopted by Bank of Algeria.
A te present time and due to the different crisis of the banking system, the bank of Algeria has adopted essential reforms through the issuance of new rules and regulations in order to sustain its roles.
