dc.description.abstract This thesis is devoted, on the one hand, to the analysis of the physico-chemical and morphological properties of date palm fibers and, on the other hand, to the physico-chemical characterization of biosourced materials composed of Portland cement and fibers (DPF) through IRTF, XRD, Raman, SEM analyses. The main objective is the use of these materials as thermal insulating materials in wall cladding. The experimental results obtained show that the high content of cellulose in DPF gives them a very high absorption capacity. The chemical composition of the matrix was not affected by the incorporation of date palm fiber, it was also noted that the reinforcement of the cement with the fiber induces an increase in porosity. Thermogravimetric tests (TGA) coupled with Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) are carried out to study mass loss and degradation as a function of temperature rise of fibrous cement composites. Thermal conductivity measurement susing the hot-wire method have also been carried out to evaluate the effect of fiber content on the thermal properties of the materials. The results show that the addition of date palm fibbers decreases the thermal conductivity of composite materials. Thus, date palm fiber cement is a good candidate for thermal insulation applications in housing.
