dc.description.abstract Some organic compounds are considered effective inhibitors to fight against metal corrosion in acidic medium, when added in low concentrations; they can reduce or stop corrosion of metal exposed. Their operating principle is based on protecting the metal from its environment. This work is devoted to the synthesis and characterization of a series of benzimidazole derivatives and derivatives of benzimidazole-based salts. The compounds obtained were subjected to an evaluation of their corrosion inhibitory efficacy of E24 steel and aluminum in 0.5M H2SO4 medium by the use of the polarization curve method, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and surface analysis (AFM, Raman, and XRF). Other parameters may influence its inhibitory activity as the temperature has been examined. This study has shown that the compounds prepared have good corrosion inhibiting properties of E24 steel in sulfuric medium.
