dc.description.abstract This study was aimed to evaluate the physicochemical and bacteriological Water quality of Oueds used for irrigation (Oued Boumerzoug and Oued Hamimime of the Wilaya of Constantine, Algeria). High levels of phosphate, nitrite, ammonium, BOD5 and COD were recorded at mean values above recommended l evels. The results of microbiological parameters show the presence of total coliforms, fecal coliforms and aerobic germs that indicate a risk of biological contamination. An Amberlite IRA-67 anion exchange resin has been tested for the removal of phosphates and nitrites by batch adsorption experiments. The effect of different parameters such as resin mass, contact time, initial concentration, pH and temperature was studied. Nitrite and phosphate’s adsorption results follow the Freundlich and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The thermodynamic parameters reveal that the process is spontaneous and exothermic.
