Abstract:
The Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction is one of the most important synthetic
transformations that has been developed for the synthesis of biaryls and alkenes derivatives.
In this thesis, NHC-Pd-Pyridine complexes with bulky benzyladamantyl substituted Nheterocyclic carbenes (NHC) were synthesized and then used for Suzuki-Miyaura coupling
reactions between aryl bromides and phenylboronic acid. With low catalyst loading, all
palladium complexes were stable and had high catalytic activity for the Suzuki-Miyaura
coupling reaction.
The sonogashira cross-coupling reaction is well-known as being one of the most important
and utilized reactions for the coupling of vinyl or aryl halides with terminal alkynes to form
conjugated enynes or aryl alkynes. In this study we used new bulky benzyladamantyl
substited N-heterocyclic carbene with NHC-Pd-PPh3 complexes and various aryl bromides
were coupled with alkynes to afford coupled products.
