Abstract

Dams are amang the most important and stratégic realization in algeria , as they are a major source of water for various fields , they are also an efficient solution for water and food security which is a delicate issue in algeria . therefore , algeria gives primany attention to bulding dams in many distinct (wilayas ) of the contry . Hammam debagh dam in the wilaya of Guelma is one of these outstanding dams . ifs waters are mainly used to cover the needs of agricultural irrigation as well as the provision of drinking water . these uses made of it one of the most vital amenitres of the wilaya owing to its contribution in the preservation of the environnement by increasing afforestation areas and protecting the soil from erosion and lowering the consequence of pollution coming from seybousse river it also have many possitive contributions at the economic social and environmentale levels . how ever , the exploitation of the dam waters faces variouse issues which resulted in the loss of huge amounts of water . and the future challenges are closeley related to the growing the demand cohich is due to the increase of the population as well as the economic and sicial grouth which the wilaya witresse . all this being said , all the anthorites ought to take concrete and effective measures to preserve water ressource
