Abstract:
The power flow problem known as load distribution is considered as one of the most
important fundamental problems in the study of electrical networks. This problem has attracted
researchers to find effective and adequate solutions. The use of flexible AC transmission systems
""FACTS"" is one of the most effective solutions to this problem. This work aims at presenting a
detailed study that falls under the category of research that combines the use of different FACTS
devices and methods of improvement or meta-heuristics optimization so that a high level of power
flow improvement can be achieved.
Initially, the arts state of the different works that are part of this research combination were
established, then, the basic power flow equations were studied. Finally, the different FACTS
devices as well as the most optimizing methods were presented. In addition, eight (08) applications
were proposed, the main objective whose principal objective is to improve the power flow through
FACTS devices: SSSC, SVC, STATCOM and UPFC as well as the use of optimization methods:
PSO, GA and LCA that have been used to identify the weakest bus bars in the electrical systems
and to find the optimal location, number and tuning of the proposed devices. On the other hand,
interpretations, comments and comparative discussions were provided.
