In this research, we describe and analyze the linguistic practices of twelve Algerian young people. The purpose was to try to reveal the use of code switching between Algerian Arabic and French in the speech of these young
people.
Code switching has always been considered as negative way, like a mixture impure, like an incompetency of the spoken language. Our objective has been to show that the use of this process is not limited to this presentation, it goes beyond that.
The analyze of the data allowed us to identify the attitudes, the representation and the linguistic consciousness when using code switching between Algerian Arabic and French. In addition, we were able to enhance the role that code switching plays.
To sum up, this study has finally proved that the use of code switching is a rind of speech by which the young people speakers want to stand out from others.
They claim their rights to be recognized as individuals as a whole. |
