Abstract

The subject of this research, entitled "The role of Local communities in the Protection of the Environmental", discusses the efforts of the formers in this regard. The increasing environmental awareness in Algeria has been translated into legal rules that have made of ecology a priority and a vital issue in all the aspects development. As part of this environmental policy, local communities are considered the basis and the foundation of any successful environmental vision; thus, they must have an effective role and a consolidated position in protecting the environment through legal texts, mechanisms and measures whether preventive or curative, notably, administrative police, environmental planning and mobilization of local public services for the afore mentioned purpose. Despite their efforts, the role of local authorities in environmental protection is estimated insufficient for many reasons, as summarized in the conclusion
