Abstract

The subject of the international protection of the marine environment (Situation on the Mediterranean) focuses in its first part the definition of the concept of the marine environment and the problems that marine pollution and through highlighting the causes and sources pollution and the impact of pollution on marine life. While this introduction was necessary and essential at the international is enssential level. As for the second part, we addressed the issue of contrast that exists in the efforts o the intentional community in order to achieve a true legal protection of the marine environment at all levels: international, regional and national for marine pollution is a social phenomenon that affects all countries. And success in the area requires joint efforts in all countries to the pollution. It is for this reason that we discussed in the first part of this chapter, the international standards and their role in the fight against the risks and dangers of pollution of the marine environment, and in the second part, we listed the means and measures to fight against this kind pollution. Regarding the third chapter on the legal protection of the Mediterranean environment in accordance with international standards, an effort was made in order to demonstrate the importance of regional cooperation and its impact on the protection and safety of the marine environment in the Mediterranean and the need to put an end to threats to this environment by referring to the agreement BARCELONA 1976 and the Protocols. Thanks to cooperation between states as well as programs an activity centers work plan we arrive at the Mediterranean against pollution. The second part of this chapter is devoted the study of international standards with emphasis on the achievement of expected results and follow up the recommendation at the end of this research.
