Abstract:
The evolution of smart cities in recent years has been characterized by the
integration of key technologies, including IoT, autoadaptive systems,
sustainability practices, and AI-driven prediction models. Understanding and
leveraging these technologies are paramount for the sustainable development
of smart cities. As urban environments grow in complexity, he primary objective
is to expedite the shift towards environmental sustainability in smart cities,
enhancing energy efficiency, transportation systems, waste management, and
building systems. This paper examines risk factors as well as the trends shaping
smart cities. We hope that this work helps extend the existing knowledge base
on smart cities and provide insights for policymakers, urban planners, and
researchers interested in enhancing the sustainability, resilience, and inclusivity
of urban environments
