Abstract

In this study we try to show the dual role of Folksonomies, which was an important technique for organizing web content by users, in the same time we can consider it as a significant tool in searching, particularly when users add tags that are employed such as keywords in retrieval systems. Tagging is an important tool to reflect users’ views and understandings of certain web content, Tagging is often carried out collectively in a participatory manner, and tags can be structured to construct what is called ‘Folksonomy’, which can capture the collective interests and similar needs by engaging the user in the description of Web contents, through making Folksonomies which can make a clear difference in the searching skills, and the retrieval strategies by giving the users the opportunity to organize information by how he see it through his logic, and to understand the working way of tagging system, which help to economize efforts and to discover information through an automatic semantic relationship, based on the relevant and convergence of concepts. Hence, Folksonomy is introduced as an important aid in retrieval systems based on uncontrolled vocabulary. in the process of searching information, therefore the considerable role that play in the information retrieval field, and work to overcome the problems of research, that confront the user when he used search engines, that care with recall not with relevancy, whatever the disadvantages Folksonomy, satisfaction the user and responding to his needs by his own through adding limited words or short sentences may hide special meanings behind it, what reflect the degree of difference between the ideas of individuals, as a result to the variety of the intellectual content, as well as they limit the problem of collisions of language between the terms. So, Folksonomy stay a controversial subject about the reliability of tags added by the user, and whether Folksonomy can be produce Thesaurus based on the uncontrolled language. This research is part of an important set of research that is able to examined and discussed.
