Abstract
The present thesis aims at studying the following subject: "Translation of the suspense style in the Travel literature, ": "Le Tour du monde en 80 jours of Jules Verne and its Arabic translation by 'Sabri al-Fadl' as a case study. - Analytical and Critical approach- to fulfill the requirements for ES Science Doctor in Translation degree. In our research work, we have chosen to study the suspense style in the travel stories considering that the study of travel literature has been, somehow either neglected or overseen by critics, particularly from a translation perspective. In the literary book market, there is a great number of travel stories, whether in Western or Arab countries. Most of them have gained much fame and public recognition, but a few interest in translation. This is due to the translation of this literary genres without taking into account its linguistic and artistic nuances between the Arabic and Latin languages (French being the language used in our research topic). When these linguistic nuances are not considered, translated novel could not survive or at least cannot achieve the same success in the target language.
