dc.description.abstract This study aims to evaluate the protective effect of n-BuOH extracts of two endemic medicinal plants ""Saccocalyxs satureioides and Genista vepres Pomel"" at a dose of (50 and 100 mg/kg) against hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity induced by isoniazid and rifampicin on male rats. In addition to evaluating the anti-hyperglycemic and the anti-inflammatory actions. The in vitro tests also took part of this study (phenolic content, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and photoprotective activities). The obtained results show that the pre-treatment of the n-BuOH extracts of the two plants “S. satureioides and G. vepres Pomel” led to a modification in the biochemical indicators (AST, ALT, ALP, GTT, triglycerides, cholesterol, creatinine, urea, and uric acid) as well as the oxidative stress indicators (MDA, GSH level and activity of GPx, CAT). This was confirmed by the histological study, as well as by the in vitro antioxidant tests, which proved that the n-butanol extracts of the two plants contained a significant amount of phenols and flavonoids that showed antioxidant activity. The results obtained inside the organism also demonstrated the anti-hyperglycemic action of the n-butanol extracts of the two plants, in addition to an inhibitory activity for the development of local edema, which indicates that this extract has anti-inflammatory activity inside the organism, which was confirmed by the in vitro anti-inflammatory tests. The obtained results also showed the action protective from light for the n-butanol extracts of both plants. In conclusion, the n-BuOH extracts of the plants S.satureioides and G.vepres Pomel are endowed with an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory powers which can play a protective and preventive role against the toxicity induced by INH and RIF. These results are reinforced by the pharmacological properties observed with respect to other tests; this is due to the diverse richness of these plants’s extract in phenolic compounds. This study supports the traditional use of these plants to treat certain disorders related to inflammation and oxidative stress. fr_FR
