The anthropometric reference curves for supervising children should derive from the population or subpopulation in which the child lives. So it would be interesting to compare the individuals of a population living under the same conditions by using local reference curves. There are few studies undertaken to achieve the local reference curves in developing countries, especially in our country, these studies are not available or accessible if they exist. Our goals are to present our methodology for the development of local reference curves for children and adolescents 6-18 years in the town of Constantine; to compare the methodology followed in our experience with that recommended by WHO (1995) and that used by other countries and to suggest adjustments to improve our methodology. The transversal study by visiting schools is combined with a socio economic description during the period 2008-2009. The target population consists of children and adolescents aged 6-18 years and enrolled residents in the town of Constantine. The study was conducted as recommended by WHO (1995). The total measured is 8 187 students (54.8% female) ranging in age between 5-21 years. The data excluded, following specific criteria, are about 407 students. The final number used for the treatment of data is 7 780 students. These anthropometric data will be used to construct the local growth curves of Constantine, the socioeconomic data will be used to characterize the population studied. The development of growth reference curves is difficult task which can be undertaken only by a group of organizations orchestrated by researchers and experts.

Perceptions des consommateurs vis-a-vis des allegations nutritionnelles

The aim of our work is to describe perceptions of the Algerian consumers with respect to the nutrition claims.
The food products put on the market with a nutrition claims were inventoried and to analyze opposite the Algerian and international regulation. The estimate of knowledge and the level of information of the consumers for the perception of the nutrition claims as well as the determination of the attitudes and the behavior of purchase of the consumers with respect to the nutrition claims are to realize by an investigation near 2200 subjects (933 mens and 1 267 womens) old from 21 to 62 years residents in the commune of Sétif, located at the Algerian east.
All in all, the food products put on the market with a nutrition claims are in conformity with the approved standards and with the legal and lawful specifications which characterize them and relate to them.
We observed that the women are more informed than the men and have a better score of knowledge as regards food health, whereas no subject obtained good score (9 – 11 points). For 83,18% of the subjects think of having a balanced food, it is to have a varied food and 60,55% grant to the food act an essential thing to live. The health and the personal preferences of the subjects are the factors significantly prevalent in the influence of the composition of the meals.
With regard to the claims, 89,14% do not know what this term means and about half of the subjects (48,45%) give importance to the nutrition claims at the time of the purchase of foodstuffs. The men significantly grant of it more concern to the moment of the purchase than the women. In addition, at the time of the purchases, the nutrition claims significantly is sought by the subjects whose educational level is high (76,06%).
The food products exempt conservatives are one of the signs of quality prevailing at surveyed. The subjects of a high educational level are interested significantly in the signs of quality which are : produced light, rich in vitamins and minerals, without cholesterol and conservatives. Two thirds of the subjects (66,64%) choose the food products according to the taste.
The surveyed population is significantly selective with regard to the quality of food. Confidence in the healthiness of food is significantly the most important parameter at the time of the purchase of the food products, particularly for the women (40,25%), and for the subjects on low educational level. Nearly 85% of the
subjects significantly read more the labels at the time of decision making as regards purchase of the

Alimentation des enfants 6- 12 ans

Alimentation des enfants 6- 12 ans

Nutrition education is a process of acquiring knowledge and know-how in the field
leads to a nutritional approach mainly cognitive whose primary purpose the improvement of
population health by improving eating habits. In Algeria, this type of study is rare that
justifies our commitment to the study.
Our work is a description of the quality of food in Algeria for a population of 1729
healthy school children aged 6 to 12 years three regions of Algeria are: Constantine, Jijel and
Touggourt conducted by a qualitative analysis of data.
The aim of our work is to highlight the differences between observed and
recommended diet (2001) to correct some food errors (quantity, quality and behaviour) by
recommendations of nutrition education as a guide for children to prevent no communicable
diseases related to die .
The results obtained are lower daily caloric intake, an unbalanced distribution of
macronutrients, lower intakes of micronutrients, high consumption of grain products and
starchy, sugary and fatty products (starches, pizza) and a lower consumption of fish and fruit
that unbalances the diet, breakfast is skipped, the morning snack afternoon snack foods are
formed by foods of high energy density. The snacking food type Junk Food practiced all the
time especially watching television and a decrease in the practice of regular physical activity.
It seems that the eating habits of algerian children are no different from those of
industrialized countries, they repeat the same food mistakes, we offer in our work this guide
of nutrition education to develop appropriate prevention and it is necessary in Algeria that
such studies be intensified throughout the national field to better understand the nutritional
status of children and in this sense, the establishment of outreach programs of nutritional
education especially in schools.

The objectives of this work are the estimation of the prevalence of celiac disease at
Constantine city and the study of the associated dietetics.
We carried out a retrospective analysis of all patients with celiac disease residing in
Constantine city who were listed in the records of different health care services between
1996 and 2008. The survey on associated dietetics was conducted with 100 patients
followed at the EHS Sidi Mabrouk. We searched information on the gluten-free diet,
dietary management and dietary habits of the patients.
An increase in the prevalence of the celiac disease from 0,11‰ in 1996 to 0,97‰ in
2008 was noted. This number found at the end of the study period is less than the number
estimated for the Algerian east (1,33‰) while remaining below the number given for
North Africa (1,4‰) and very far from that given for the world (10‰).
We found that the prevalence of celiac disease is higher in female subjects (for all
years of study) and in subjects aged 10-14 years and those aged 15-19 years (at the end of
the study period).
We observed that more than three quarters of the patients follow strictly the glutenfree diet. The high cost of gluten-free products remains the main difficulty related to the
follow-up of the diet. The difficulty of eating outside the home, lack of conviviality of
alimentation, lack of appetite and psychological problems are the main consequences
caused by the gluten-free diet.
Foods that celiac patients require are in first position bread, couscous in the pasta
category and traditional cakes in the cakes category.
The galette and gluten-free cakes are the two main foods made at home. As for
commercially gluten-free foods, bread, pasta and semolina and/or flour are the most
purchased.
